"Evidence We Are
Immortal Spiritual Beings--SCIENTIFIC INPUT"
by Dr. Mark Pitstick
Late into the night, a
scientist works alone in his laboratory.
Suddenly, he hears a voice that explains how
to perfect his
invention. When the
inventor asks the voice to identify itself,
he is told it's a spirit visiting from the
"second millennium."
The scientist uses the
information to successfully complete details
on a machine that nearly everyone has used
and benefited from.
Physicist Chester
Carlson, inventor of the Xerox machine,
received key ideas in his laboratory when he
heard voices that explained the principles
of making copies. Science magazine reported
that Carlson left millions in his will to
psychical research because, 'He felt that
science should try
to reach into the
mystery of survival after death.'" Renowned
reincarnation researcher Ian Stevenson,
M.D., is one such beneficiary of Carlson's
donations.
Webster's primary
definition of 'science' is: "possession of
knowledge as distinguished from ignorance or
misunderstanding; accumulated and accepted
knowledge that has been systematized and
formulated with reference to the discovery
of general truths." (1) There is a wealth
of diverse scientific evidence that strongly
supports the existence of a spiritual
reality.
In my radio interview
with Jeffrey Mishlove, Ph.D., author of The
Roots of Consciousness, he stated:
"Today, the
conventional scientific view is that
consciousness is sort of a product of the
brain but there are some very serious
problems with that position. This view,
known technically as epiphenomenalism, is
that somehow consciousness emerges from
something that is not conscious, that is
purely physical. It doesn't satisfy anyone,
philosophically speaking.
Although it is the
popular view among modern academics, it is
seriously flawed. We now have leading edge
biologists,
physicists, and
neurophysiologists saying maybe
consciousness is something elemental. Maybe
it's just as fundamental as space and time
or maybe it's even more
fundamental."
Given the depth and
breadth of the collective evidence, I and
many scientists and doctors ARE SURE that
consciousness or spirit are the ground of
all being and, ultimately, all that is.
With faith and
knowledge of our immortal spiritual natures,
we can let our inner lights shine, even
amidst life's greatest
challenges.
