Past Life Regressions

Do not use this technique without approval by your doctor or therapist if you have significant mental symptoms.  This technique is not intended to replace traditional medical or psychological care.

I was certified by Brian Weiss MD in 1998 to conduct past life regression therapy.  Since then, I have facilitated many such sessions, especially with groups.  The results are often very impressive.  For example, Margie, a sixty-five-year-old woman who suffered with chronic and severe back pain, was referred to me for a session by her integrative medical doctor.  Margie had literally tried everything: chiropractic, physical therapy, acupuncture, hypnosis for pain management, injections, medications, massage, and energy healing.  But none of these approaches diminished her pain.

Despite being deeply relaxed during our past life regression session, Margie became quite agitated as she described her life during medieval times as a servant girl to an evil and powerful man.  Margie saw herself being raped and abused by this man over a period of several years.  She couldn’t escape and could not bear to live like that.  While crying and trembling, she described trying to stab him so he wouldn’t hurt her anymore.  Her frail attempt was thwarted and the man stabbed her in the back several times directly over the area where her chronic pain was.  After this cathartic session, Margie reported feeling 75% better.  Her improvement increased over time and persisted two years later when I last heard from her.

This technique uses deep relaxation / hypnosis so you can explore other slices of life.  Using quantum physics terms, you can potentially visit other time / space manifestations of your energy / soul in the field of all possibilities.  That is, you can revisit other aspects of your life with the intention of accepting, honoring, and learning from them.

PLR sessions can heal physical and emotional symptoms.  Other benefits of PLR include:

1. release the past to live more fully in the here and now.

2. more ease about the safety and meaningfulness of living and dying

3. greater peace about your current changes and challenges

4. insights about repeating patterns in your life and how to improve those

5. shift from primarily identifying with your body to your infinite self

Please be aware that the concept of past lives only makes sense when viewing life with a dualistic perspective.  I don’t want to reinforce limiting notions that we each are solid, separate, and confined to experiencing life in chronological order on earth.

The model of cyclical life experiences is a better one than “you live just this one life and that’s it” or “when you die, you go to heaven or hell forever.”  However, I encourage you to consider the following that may shape the way you view the most absolute understandings of reality.

  1. Humans usually sense only much less than 1% of reality. As such, their comprehension of reality is often greatly limited.
  2. The past, present, and future may be only relatively real.  The notion of absolute time – it is 12:14pm EDT right now – is based on human concepts of time.  Some reports from other realms say that time is circular and only relatively real. Those who say that ‘there is no time’ in the afterlife haven’t considered common NDE reports of hearing wonderful music.  And music requires spacing and timing.
  3. Good evidence suggests that multilocation / parallel / simultaneous realities may exist.  Michael Newton PhD, founder of Life Between Lives (LBL) therapy, and his team have worked with over 40,000 people from around the world.  Over decades of sessions, these clients have provided impressively consistent reports about what life was like before coming to earth.Their findings indicate that, on average, only about 25% of a person’s total energy is needed during an earthly incarnation.  The rest may experience life as an animal, plant, or formed or formless nonearthly being.  Clients also reported that part of a person’s consciousness never leaves Home and hence remains merged with Source Energy.  See article #75 to learn more about multilocation, and #98 about Life Between Lives.
  4. From a unitive or most absolute understanding, all that appears as separate life experiences may actually be G.O.D. dreaming, breathing, and dancing.   As beloved spiritual teacher Ram Dass said, humans are patterns of energy and part of the only dance there is.
  5. Consciousness experts such as scientist Gary E. Schwartz PhD say we each are beings of energy, awareness, and information.  Manifestations of these info / energy systems appear differently depending on the observer, their intention and level of perception, and position from which they are observing.David Bohm  PhD, renowned physicist and colleague of Einstein’s, said that earthly experiences are perhaps best understood as ripples of excitation in a sea of energy.  Again, how those ripples seem to be manifested depends on a number of factors. 

    The Buddha purportedly stated in The Diamond Sutra: “Like a tiny drop of dew, or a bubble floating in a stream; like a flash of lightning in a summer cloud; or a flickering lamp, an illusion, a phantom, or a dream.  So is all conditioned existence to be seen.”  This 2nd century or so teaching recognized that humans are conditioned to interpret reality and those perceptions may be gross reflections of true reality.

Because of all this and more, I do see past life regressions as literal remembrances of separate, physical life experiences embedded in a chronological timeline.  Rather, they may be best understood as virtual reality visits as discussed above.

Richard Bach’s character in Running from Safety put all this so elegantly . . .

“Do you believe in reincarnation?”  “No.  Reincarnation is a series of lifetimes, isn’t it, one after the other, in order, on this planet?  That feels a little limiting, it fits a little tight across the shoulders.”  “What fits you better?”  “An infinite number of beliefs of life experiences, please, some in bodies, some not; some on planets, some not; all of them simultaneous because there is no such thing as time, none of them real because there’s only one Life.”

Having said that, during a past life regression, you may access what seem to be past lives, future possibilities, alternate realities, spiritual / formless realms, and/or symbolic / metaphorical experiences.  You may feel called to revisit other times and places to release, heal, remember, evolve, serve, enjoy, and/or be entertained.  These other slices of life may pop up or float in because of the attached energy behind them.

The good news?  No matter what the nature of your experience and how you view past life regressions, the can be powerfully energizing and inspiring.

A small percentage of people feel blocked during a regression.  Here are three solutions:

  1. Use the Holistic Breathing Technique(HBT) twice a week for one month.  Set an intention to release all blocks that are preventing a successful past life regression and a harmonious present time earthly experience.  Continue to use this technique once a week for a month, then every other week for a few months, then once a month as a self-care wellness practice.
  2. After one month using HBT, begin Ask Your Soul(AYS) sessions with the same frequency as above.  This approach allows you to access your inner wisdom about how you can upgrade your life in all respects.
  3. After one month of using AYS, try the technique again using my Past Life Regressionaudio product.  Be sure to follow the pre-session recommendations below .
  4. Don’t put any pressure on yourself and remember that practice makes perfect.

The combination of these steps should create meaningful results for you.

Recommendations Before the Session

Be completely rested since this deep relaxation technique is very conducive to sleep.

Eat a light, healthy meal beforehand so you aren’t hungry or have low blood sugar.

Avoid excess caffeine or sugar for 24 hours.  Avoid using alcohol or recreational drugs for at least three days.

Generate a list of questions you would like answered.  Don’t be shy—this is your big chance—so ask anything you’ve ever wondered about.

Get as relaxed as possible before the experience.
– Wear comfortable clothing that will not bind as you lie still for 45 minutes.

– Bring lip salve to prevent dry lips during the open-mouth breathing.

– Drink some water and use the bathroom just before your session.

– Turn off any phones, pagers, or other potentially interrupting devices

Don’t worry about coughing, sneezing, or clearing your throat.  These noises need not interfere with your deeply relaxed state.

Set an intention to reexperience and learn just what you need at this time to greatly improve your life.

Remember that your experiences may be subtle or dramatic.  You may experience them as if you really are there, or more passively as though viewing from above.  Suspend judgment by your analytical brain there are no wrong answers.

 Recommendations After the Session

Enjoy quiet time to internalize your lessons, insights, and inner peace.

Be careful and really focus if you drive soon afterwards.

Listen to your audio recording and share with trusted loved ones if you like.

Keep a journal to note any additional insights that arrive in dream or waking states.
