“The internal machinery of life, the chemistry of the parts, is something beautiful. And it turns out that all life is interconnected with all other life.” – Richard P. Feynman, Ph.D., Nobel Prize winning physicist
I was blessed to grow up in a ‘mixed neighborhood’ of white and African-American people. Our Lutheran minister and his family were Chinese. One of my good grade-school friends was from Korea. Another dear friend’s mom came from Italy. Because of this international exposure at an early age, I developed an appreciation for diversity. Over the years, I have enjoyed great relationships with Hispanics and Native Americans.
That covers the five basic skins colors, right? Black, white, red, yellow, and brown. Only one problem . . . I have never met a person who is really one of those colors. Check any color chart and you’ll see what I mean. And, yet, so much attention has been paid to this little outward detail. Humans!
I tasted different cuisines – Asian, Italian, Latino, and soul food – and loved them all. I learned that some cultures tend to speak more loudly and get more emotional than my relatively staid Scotch-German family. I went to different weddings and funerals and grew to appreciate and respect differences instead of fearing them.
In college, I listened to different professors who had traveled abroad extensively. They reported that nearly everyone they met was friendly and peaceful. My Russian language professor was especially outspoken about how loving and welcoming people were there.
This was a revelation to a young man who grew up with bomb raid practices at school, storing essentials for survival in our basement, and fearing nuclear attacks by the Russians.
At age 21, I awakened very early in the morning and saw a vision on the ceiling. A huge golden central orb had many tiny dots connected to it by golden threads. As I wondered what it all meant, a wise voice or thought said: ‘This is how life is. The central sphere represents God.’ The infinite numbers of golden dots are like the many beings in the universe. Some of them realize they are one with the One and thus are in or on the central sphere. Others are very close, but don’t fully realize their inseparability from All That Is. Still others believe they are quite distant from the Source.’
The teaching concluded, ‘The good news is that a perimeter can be drawn around even the most distant dots. Viewed from a sufficiently broad perspective, the entire assemblage is seen as all One and interconnected.’
Not all people were as lucky as I. They grew up isolated and/or were negatively influenced by prejudiced family members. As a result, they learn to fear people who look and act differently instead of valuing the richness of different cultures.
As I write this in 2019, the U.S. is still embroiled in racial tension and immigration debates. I was shocked to discover how many racist and culturally uninformed people live in America. Extreme political positions – ranging from open borders to mistreatment of immigrants – seem to grab the headlines instead of reasonable discussions about how to prudently handle that issue.
Knowing that all people matter and we each are interconnected is hugely important piece of information. Really getting this and treating others accordingly is big piece to the puzzle of world peace.
Many people have had, or least know someone who had, a Near-Death Experience (NDE). Near-death experiencers (NDErs) often return from clinical death with very similar messages. One is that we each are one with the One and part of Source Energy. Using basic logic and mathematics, that means all people are interconnected. Using A and B to represent two people and X for all that exists, the statement can be made: if A and B are subsets of X, then A and B are interrelated.)
Another common statement by NDErs is that we each are like threads in a vast and exquisitely beautiful tapestry. From one side, it looks like a totally integrated piece of cloth. From the other side, however, the individual threads and their connections / unity is obvious. For contemporary descriptions about this, see Dying To Be Me by Anita Moorjani and Proof of Heaven by Eben Alexander MD.
Similarly, people who experience Life Between Lives (LBL) sessions (NewtonInstitute.org) report learning that all people are interconnected. The research started by Michael Newton PhD, author of Journey of Souls, supports the wisdom of‘The New Golden Rule’ since we are interrelated.
(The New Golden Rule is “Treat others the way they would like to be treated.” The old version – ‘Treat others the way you would like to be treated’ – may be problematic since how you want to be treated probably isn’t how they want to be.)
Experiencing a LBL also reveals how important it is to value and respect others. Clients see that they have been different people in different times and dimensions. A person who looks and acts differently may, in fact, be a beloved soulmate who purposely took on a different guise for good reasons.
Likewise, Past Life Regressions (PLR) indicate how outward factors – gender, sexual orientation, skin color, ethnicity, religion, etc. – are relatively minor. As with NDEs and LBL sessions, experiencers return being more focused on our essential oneness versus trivial differences.
Many psychiatrists, psychologists, and university professors have used PLR work to help people in myriad ways. Their clients experience, with some degree of clinical verification, that souls choose to view life from different perspectives. To learn more about this topic, read books by Brian Weiss MD and other experts discussed in my book Soul Proof.
Why? To better understand how vast, creative, loving, and intelligence Source Energy and remember we each are integral parts of this phenomenon. Imagine how different one would see life from different observation points as a man versus a woman. A heterosexual versus a GLBTQI person. And so on with culture, age, health status, religion, and more. The wisdom of the old saying, ‘Never judge others unless you’ve walked a mile in their moccasins’ is self-evident when you have experienced firsthand being all of those.
The Greater Reality Living groups (GreaterRealityLiving.com) were formed because many people have expressed their desire to meet with open-minded and open-hearted people online and in their community. They want a safe, nonjudgmental, inclusive, and respectful place where they can learn more about the evidence of life after physical death. In addition, they want to share their personal experiences, learn meaningful answers to life’s biggest questions and challenges, and meet other kindred spirits.
It is our hope that these groups and other evolved outreaches will encourage people to value, versus fear, people who are different. Yes, some people are imbalanced and act inappropriately. We each need to be cautious and practice wise discernment about how to best stay safe. But imbalanced people come from all walks of life. Judging and fearing a certain group is not the solution to personal happiness or world peace.
The best solution is to get to know people who are different from you. Having that personal experience helps the labels and fears fall away.
In the poor and starving people she served, Mother Theresa saw Jesus in His most distressing disguise. Might more of us also glimpse another dear face of God in everyone we meet? All people matter. Acknowledging that and our interconnectedness is one key to personal and planetary peace, joy, love, and fulfillment.
