This evidence-based information and holistic resources will help you . . .
- Adopt a more accurate worldview based on contemporary understandings about ‘the big picture of life’ and live accordingly – whatever that means for you. (see article #19 ‘The Great News’ about the Nature of Reality at SoulProof.com)
- Experience shorter and lightened grieving after loved ones change worlds and other big changes that seem like losses.
- Fine-tune yourself physically, emotionally, mentally, and spiritually so you have the vitality to handle life’s demands AND share your greatest gifts / soul’s missions.
- Become more aware of, benefit from, and share life’s silver linings that always accompany opportunities masquerading as adversity.
- Create the greatest life YOU have envisioned. (The term ‘YOU’ refers to your higher self / eternal consciousness / soul)
- Fulfill your highest purposes for being on earth and help make our world a better place. This is now practically possible as discussed in article #125 Eight Developments for Widespread Conscious Living Now. As enough people do this, widespread personal and planetary change will naturally unfold.

All Lives Matter
More Americans now realize the extent of racial prejudice and injustice, and are taking action. In the process, it can look like chaos. Many involved are peaceful protestors, but some are taking advantage of a rightful cause to loot and destroy. The former is laudable while the latter isn’t acceptable.
The roots of the problem are complex. Likewise, solutions are difficult to consider in a fair and practical way. Mob mentality will elicit a backlash, not a thoughtful moving forward. Those who loot and destroy only strengthen false beliefs that most people of a certain color are bad.
What is the best way forward? For example, are reparations a good idea and will they make a lasting difference? If so, what is the threshold for receiving them? Skin color? DNA profile? There’s such a wide spectrum of both in most people.
What is reasonable about statues being taken down? Past leaders weren’t perfect, but who is? Where do we draw the line between preserving our history and removing reminders of mistreatment based on race?
I hesitate to write about this because some people on both sides of the issue are so reactive about this topic right now. People tend to form polarities and vigorously, even violently, defend their positions. For example, consider the title of this article. Black lives AND all lives matter.
I hope to further reasonable discussion and unitive solutions. I pray that my words will help others look at this with more tolerance and hope. I don’t pretend to have all the answers or solutions. I have five, but first some background so you know where I’m coming from.

I was blessed to grow up in a neighborhood that was half “white” and half “black.” (I use quotation marks around those terms because no one is really white or black. People have so many different shades of tan, light brown, medium brown, dark brown, and white. Might we finally get past outward differences and focus on the inner soul, energy, and consciousness?)
At a recent high school reunion, my friend Warren – a tall African American man – reminded me that we held hands while walking to kindergarten together because we were scared. On other days, I walked with two African American girls; we talked and laughed all the way. I’ve been to African American funerals and wedding parties. (I was easy to spot in the line of best men with big afros.)
A dear friend in grade school was from Korea. Our Lutheran minister and his family were Chinese. During the last 35 years, I have become friends with three Native Americans who are spiritual wisdom teachers. In short, I grew up appreciating the richness, strength, and beauty in diversity.
As a result of the above, I know that racism in the U.S. is more common than most realize. Friends in mixed race marriages experience negativity that ranges from prolonged stares to rude comments. One of my godsons, a 6 ½ foot tall, 270 pound African American man, is routinely pulled over in his neighborhood by the police. Elkan is one of the most gentle, intelligent, loving, and creative people I know. The police ask, ‘What are doing in this (upper scale and largely white) neighborhood?’ He answers, “Going to my mom’s house just down the street.’ A dear friend since junior high school, Debra is a physician with more degrees than me.
Many years ago, we discussed all the racial strife – we were fifteen years old when Dr. Martin Luther King was murdered – and came up with a great plan. If many people intermarried for just a few generations, most people would have a beautiful cocoa brown skin color. It’s slowly happening; just notice the number of ultra-attractive biracial people these days.
Susan, a long-time patient of mine and 78 year-old retired RN, and I were talking about racial struggles. She said: “My grandmother was pure Cherokee. My father was part black and part white. My mother was part white and part Native American. What does that make me? The blacks don’t want me, the whites won’t have me, and the Indians say ‘She doesn’t look like us.’”
Her comments reminded me of all the suffering caused by trivial differences in the position of pigment in the skin. How did such a relatively unimportant detail become such a big deal to so many people?
As we talked further, Susan said: “If you hear a baby crying next door, you don’t hesitate to see if he or she is OK – you run over there to help the little one. And you certainly don’t think about whether the baby is black, brown, red, yellow, or white-skinned before you move.” I heartily agree. People just need to get to know each other instead of automatically reacting based on their skin color, age, sexual orientation, hair style, etc.
My friend and colleague Bernie Siegel MD was a surgeon who has written eloquently about the uninformed stance of judging others by their skin color. He wrote, ‘After I cut through the initial layer of skin, all the rest looks the same.’ How boring would life be if all flowers were the same shape and color?
It’s 2025, for God’s sake. Might we see more clearly what is truly important and live in peace, respect, and appreciation?

In my 72 years on this planet, I’ve learned there are usually a few bad apples in every bushel. I’ve met many wonderful people, and just a few imbalanced ones, from every race. My friends and extended family are a beautiful assortment of color, religious beliefs, sexual orientation, age, gender, ethnicity, hair style, and other minor differences. I’m grateful to have learned what is really important at a young age and enjoy this diversity.
My five solutions . . .
- Look into people’s eyes instead of their skin.
- Give others a fair chance instead of making snap judgments based on how they look or what cause they support.
- Expand your world: take part in a peaceful protest, attend church services with people of different skin colors and beliefs, make new friends with those of different races, etc.
- Realize that skin color is not an accurate indicator of whether a person is good, loving, and peaceful.
- Treat others the way you would want to be treated: with love, respect, and caring.
The solutions to this one are simple. Follow The Golden Rule. Great religious and philosophical teachers throughout time have shared the wisdom and benefits of loving our neighbors and ourselves.
