Ten Ways to Help Time Heal All Your Wounds
(Note: All of my articles, e-books, audio programs, radio interviews, and documentary film are FREE at SoulProof.com/Articles and SoulProof.com/Shop)
You’ve likely heard the saying ‘Time heals all wounds.’ That statement can be: (1) true, (2) somewhat true, or (3) not at all true for you. Several factors determine that but, in my experience, the most important one is what you do following a big challenge. (I use the word ‘challenge’ for life’s biggest changes that SEEM to be – from a limited human perspective – tragic losses. ‘Opportunity’ is actually a better word than challenge, but that surpasses the vision of people who are deeply and actively grieving.)
In this article, I’ll share how to make the saying ‘Time heals all wounds’ more true for you and your loved ones. These ten ways will sound very familiar if you’ve recently read article #128 My Advice If You Are a More Advanced Soul OR Want To Become One. That’s become ‘the ten ways’ in this article are those taken by more evolved people / souls. (I recommend writing the ten subtitles and posting where you’ll see them.)
The ten ways . . .
1. Internalize ‘The Great News’ About the Nature of Reality
‘The Great News’ is a list of ten indications about how life is really set up. These points are based upon evidence from scientific research, clinical data, and firsthand experiences. When you deeply understand The Great News and live accordingly – whatever that looks like for you – every aspect of life can improve.
Item #1 in ‘The Great News’ is that you and everyone else are a being of consciousness and energy who is still alive after your earthly body dies. Item #2 is that you can sense and visit with your postmaterial loved ones NOW and after you pass on. (‘Postmaterial’ is our favored term for those whose earthly form died and are now living in another space-time slice of life.)
In the past, much of the information about life, death, and afterlife came from religious teachings. Some of that was accurate and helpful, but other parts were wrong, confusing, and fearful. In 2025, we have much collective evidence about the big picture of life and it’s all great news. Really knowing this list – and basing your thoughts, words, and actions on it – will help time heal all your wounds.

2. Expand your circle of earthly kindred spirits
Having great relationships with dear family members and friends is another key to healing over time. You can talk more deeply with those in your inner circle who will really listen and help as they can. To learn more about how to find special ones who are members of ‘your tribe’, read articles #66 Optimal Relationships for More Evolved People and #121 Soulmates. Also use the Ask Your Soul, Angels, and The Light audio program to access your and their wisdom about how to meet more like-minded and open-hearted people
3. Ask your ‘spiritual support team’ for assistance
Item #3 in ‘The Great News’ is that you are an integral, eternal, infinite, and beloved part of Source Energy / The Light now and always. Item #4 is that you are sent guidance, assistance, and love (GAL) from angels, guides, and master teachers. That is most powerful when you give thanks, stay alert to how it comes in, benefit from it, and help others. Prayer and intention are two sides of this process: (a) prayer is asking for GAL and giving thanks in advance for it; (b) intention, that is, focusing on what you want and being committed to making it happen, is your part of the deal.

4. Serve others
One of the most powerful ways to heal your wounds is to serve others. Even helping those in need for a few hours per week can make a huge difference. Doing this moves you FROM stuck-record thinking ‘Woe is me! Why me, God? My life is so difficult!’ TO ‘How can I help? What are the lessons and silver linings here?’ No matter what you’re going through, you can usually find others who have it much worse and need your help. Doing this is a sacred act of transmuting your lower energies and emotions (anger, guilt, hopelessness, depression, and spiritual amnesia) to higher ones (peace, joy, love, compassion, and remembering ‘The Great News’). To learn more, read articles #11 Expanding Your View of Life, #82 Greater Reality HEALING Program: Journeying FROM Deeply Grieving TO Brightly Shining, #108 Higher Energies, Emotions, and Ways of Being.
5. Spend time around nature and animals
Plants, soil, water, and rocks have amazingly restorative and grounding energies. That’s why, for example, walking barefoot on grass, sand, surf, and sand / earth provides body, mind, and spirit benefits. Being in nature helps you be still and remember ‘The Great News’ about how life is set up. Animals often provide unconditional love and nonjudgmental companionship. To learn more, see article #77 Centering Practices, #92 Messages from Plants, and #39 In Honor of Lila the Cat.
6. Look for silver linings
Adversity always contains potentials for greater growth, learning, and serving others. Your job is to keep your eyes open, benefit, and share the blessings with others. For over 11 years, I’ve worked with many stellar people with one or more children who passed on in the organization Helping Parents Heal. After going through ‘the dark night of the soul’, many of them demonstrated that wounds can heal over time. In part, they did this via active focus on:
a. knowing their child is still very much alive and now enjoying celestial realms
b. realizing they will see their kids again AND can enjoy signs and visits from them NOW
c. choosing to honor their kids by finding silver linings and sharing them with others
To learn more, read articles #59 Follow the Silver Lining Road, #50 Choosing Action Over Discouragement, and the Shining Light Parents Speak book. 7. Take good care of yourself
Another key to ensuring that time heals all your wounds is to optimally care for your body and brain. Use self-care and natural health care approaches such as acupuncture, clinical nutrition, chiropractic, deep tissue massage, and integrative medical care. I know a lot about this topic after helping many people for over 50 years with pastoral counseling, clinical psychology, chiropractic, and/or nutrition-based healing. To learn more, read my book Radiant Wellness: A Holistic Guide for Optimal Earthly Experiences and articles #12 Optimal Self Care: How to Holistically Fine Tune Yourself, #32 Nutrition-Based Healing, and #88 Whole Food Way of Eating and Supplements.
8. Learn more about the big picture of life
To help time heal all your wounds, search for and find meaningful answers to life’s existential questions. You know the list: ‘Who am I? Why am I here? What happens after I die? Is there really a caring and wise Creator? If so, why is there so much suffering? How can I best live while on earth.
Learning evidence-based answers to these deep questions and letting those shape how you live has been likened to building your house on granite versus shifting sand. Doing that helps you recover more quickly when inevitable changes and challenges occur. Eastern spiritual teachings ask ‘Are you like a solid tree that withstands all life’s storms? Or are you like a brittle leaf that blows about with every changing wind?’ Knowing more about the nature of reality and living accordingly will help you handle all challenges like the Wise, Infinite, Special, and Powerful (WISP) soul that you really are.

9. Be patient
Please notice that the words ‘immediately’ or ‘quickly’ aren’t in the saying ‘Time heals all wounds.’ Some time is usually required for your grief to lessen. For some, that’s a few months but, for others, it’s many years. For most people, time eventually decreases the severity of pain and sadness after a major change that – from a limited human perspective – seems like a loss. To learn more, read article #91 Pause and Remember and #74 Is Your Life Unfolding Perfectly?
10. Appreciate and celebrate small improvements
Over time, your grief may lighten but not totally disappear. Of his recovery after his little son passed on, Raymond Moody MD, PhD said that initially the pain was like a black hole that encompassed his entire body. Decades later, it shrunk to the size of a quarter over his heart. That’s a beautiful description of how pain and suffering can lighten in intensity. Pay attention to these changes; when you notice just a little lessening, celebrate and ask for more.

I hope this discussion helps ‘stack the deck’ in your favor about whether time heals all wounds. The bottom line? You have much more control over how you feel than you might imagine. How you think, speak, and act determines what you believe and, thus, how you feel. No matter what you are going through, you can always focus on taking the high road. Many people have done this and you can too. Visit the Greater Reality HEALING Program subtab at SoulProof.com to watch my free videos and learn about free online and in-person meetings.
